Students from the University of Rijeka have once again shown that Croatian intelligence and enthusiasm can compete on a global level. As part of the prestigious Monaco Energy Boat Challenge 2025, the Adria Hydrofoil Racing team from Rijeka won an outstanding 3rd place among the strongest European universities in the category of innovative vessels powered by renewable energy sources.<\/p>\n

This result confirms the many years of continuity of excellence of the Rijeka team which already won international awards last year with the vessel “Vilson”<\/strong>, including 2nd place in the same competition in 2024.<\/p>\n

A combination of engineering precision and ecological vision<\/h4>\n

The vessel presented by the students this year relies on hydrofoil technology combined with hydrogen and electric propulsion. This technological approach allows for more efficient navigation, less water resistance and almost silent operation with zero emissions. They particularly impressed the judges with their independently developed control and stabilization systems and the optimization of energy efficiency.<\/p>\n

A team made up of future experts<\/h4>\n

The team consisted of students of naval architecture, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and computer science from the Rijeka Faculty of Technology (RITEH), with the support of mentors and industry experts. The entire development of the vessel \u2013 from hull design and electrical installations to testing in real conditions was carried out in Croatia.<\/p>\n

What makes the team stand out is their multidisciplinary approach and high degree of autonomy in design. Through their work on the project, the students not only demonstrated the application of knowledge in practice, but also developed innovative solutions that have real potential for commercial application in the sustainable maritime sector.<\/p>\n

Support from academia and industry partners<\/h4>\n

The project was supported by the Faculty of Engineering, as well as numerous industrial partners, including companies from the nautical, energy and IT sectors. Financial and mentoring support enabled the students to realize a high-tech vessel and compete alongside the best teams from France, Italy, the Netherlands and Germany.<\/p>\n

More than a competition \u2013 a message for the future<\/h4>\n

The Monaco Energy Boat Challenge is not just a sports and technical competition, but also a platform for promoting sustainable development in the maritime sector. Through their participation in the project, Rijeka students are sending a clear message: a green transition in maritime affairs is possible and Croatian knowledge can be at its forefront.<\/p>\n

Rijeka \/ Monaco \u2013<\/strong> Studenti Sveu\u010dili\u0161ta u Rijeci jo\u0161 su jednom pokazali da hrvatska pamet i entuzijazam mogu konkurirati na svjetskoj razini. U sklopu presti\u017enog natjecanja Monaco Energy Boat Challenge 2025<\/strong>, tim Adria Hydrofoil Racing iz Rijeke osvojio je izvanredno 3. mjesto<\/strong> me\u0111u najja\u010dim europskim sveu\u010dili\u0161tima u kategoriji inovativnih plovila pogonjenih obnovljivim izvorima energije.<\/p>

Ovaj rezultat potvr\u0111uje vi\u0161egodi\u0161nji kontinuitet izvrsnosti rije\u010dkog tima \u2013 koji je pro\u0161le godine s plovilom \"Vilson\"<\/strong> ve\u0107 osvajao me\u0111unarodna priznanja, uklju\u010duju\u0107i 2. mjesto na istom natjecanju 2024. godine.<\/p>

Spoj in\u017eenjerske preciznosti i ekolo\u0161ke vizije<\/h4>

Plovilo koje su ove godine predstavili studenti oslanja se na hidrokrilnu tehnologiju<\/strong> u kombinaciji s pogonom na vodik i elektri\u010dnu energiju. Ovaj tehnolo\u0161ki pristup omogu\u0107ava efikasniju plovidbu, manji otpor vode i gotovo be\u0161uman rad \u2013 uz nultu emisiju \u0161tetnih plinova. Posebno su impresionirali suce samostalno razvijenim sustavima upravljanja i stabilizacije te optimizacijom energetske u\u010dinkovitosti.<\/p>

Tim sastavljen od budu\u0107ih stru\u010dnjaka<\/h4>

U timu su sudjelovali studenti brodogradnje, strojarstva, elektrotehnike i ra\u010dunarstva s Tehni\u010dkog fakulteta u Rijeci (RITEH), uz podr\u0161ku mentora i stru\u010dnjaka iz industrije. Cjelokupni razvoj plovila \u2013 od dizajna trupa i elektroinstalacija, do testiranja u realnim uvjetima \u2013 realiziran je u Hrvatskoj.<\/p>

Ono \u0161to tim posebno izdvaja jest multidisciplinarni pristup i visok stupanj autonomije u projektiranju. Kroz rad na projektu, studenti su ne samo demonstrirali primjenu znanja u praksi, ve\u0107 i razvili inovativna rje\u0161enja koja imaju realni potencijal za komercijalnu primjenu u odr\u017eivom pomorskom sektoru.<\/p>

Podr\u0161ka akademske zajednice i industrijskih partnera<\/h4>

Projekt je podr\u017ean od strane Tehni\u010dkog fakulteta, ali i brojnih industrijskih partnera, uklju\u010duju\u0107i i poduze\u0107a iz sektora nautike, energetike i IT-a. Financijska i mentorska potpora omogu\u0107ila je studentima da realiziraju plovilo visoke tehnolo\u0161ke razine i konkuriraju uz bok najboljim timovima iz Francuske, Italije, Nizozemske i Njema\u010dke.<\/p>

Vi\u0161e od natjecanja \u2013 poruka za budu\u0107nost<\/h4>

Monaco Energy Boat Challenge nije samo sportsko-tehni\u010dko natjecanje, ve\u0107 i platforma za promociju odr\u017eivog razvoja u pomorstvu. Rije\u010dki studenti kroz sudjelovanje u projektu \u0161alju jasnu poruku: zelena tranzicija u pomorstvu je mogu\u0107a \u2013 i hrvatska znanja mogu biti na njenom \u010delu<\/strong>.<\/p>

Adria Hydrofoil Racing tim najavljuje daljnji razvoj projekta i pripreme za sljede\u0107e izdanje natjecanja, a njihova predanost, kreativnost i in\u017eenjerski talent zaslu\u017euju svaku pohvalu.<\/p>
